A large blade gives the Black Diamond Evac 9 substantial snow-moving capacity. Its handle can be configured for ordinary shoveling or for pulling snow in hoe mode, depending on the excavation. The extendable shaft provides working reach, and a large D-grip accommodates prolonged use. A flat blade bottom also helps produce a clean face when preparing a snowpit for observation.
