Ski boot size converter

Measure your feet in centimeters for the best starting point. Mondopoint follows foot length, while everyday shoe sizes are only an approximate match. Convert between the six size systems below, then try boots with a fitter. Sizes vary a little by brand, and a shop fitting beats any chart.

Convert your boot size

Measure both feet and use the longer one. The chart covers adult foot lengths from 22 to 32 cm.

Measure before you shop

Stand on a hard floor with your heel lightly against a wall. Wear a thin ski sock and keep your weight on that foot. Mark the end of your longest toe, then measure from the wall to the mark. Repeat on the other foot; they are often slightly different lengths.

Try this later in the day, when your feet have had time to swell. Keep the measurement in centimeters, including the decimal. A 26.5 cm foot starts around Mondopoint 26.5. If your shoe-size conversion disagrees with your measured foot, take the measurement to the fitter instead of buying a bigger boot.

Length is only part of fit

The heel should stay secure while the toes have room to lie naturally. Forefoot width, instep height and calf shape matter too. A boot can be the right length and still pinch one spot or leave too much space elsewhere. Try a different shape before adding length to solve a width problem.

Wear one thin pair of ski socks when trying boots. Thick socks can bunch up and make pressure worse. Flex forward several times and give the liner time to warm around your foot. A snug new liner will soften with use, so a roomy fit in the shop can become loose on snow.

Check shells and bindings

Whole and half Mondopoint sizes often share a shell. Moving from 26 to 26.5 may change the liner or footbed without giving you a longer shell. Ask which sizes share a shell in the model you are trying. A fitter can check the space around your foot with the liner removed.

The millimeter number molded into the boot is the outside sole length, not your Mondopoint size. Two boots in the same size can have different soles. Have a shop check binding compatibility and adjustment whenever you change boots. Children need a separate fitting; do not add growing room to their boots.

Sizing questions

Is Mondopoint the same for men and women?

Yes. Mondopoint describes foot length in centimeters. Men’s and women’s boots can differ in shape, cuff height and flex, but a 25.5 Mondopoint label refers to the same foot length.

Should I round my foot length up?

Use the closest half size as a starting point and keep the exact measurement for your fitting. Do not add an extra shoe size for warmth. A secure heel and the right shape matter more than extra empty space.

Why does my usual shoe size give a different answer?

Shoe and boot brands use slightly different conversions, especially for US and EU sizes. The chart is approximate. Measuring both feet and trying the boot with a shop fitter is more useful than matching a familiar shoe number.
