Advanced Skis
Advanced skiers can use a wider range of skis, which makes a clear purpose especially useful. Decide whether the next pair is for precise groomed turns, fast lines through rough snow or quick moves in steep trees. Strong construction and a firm tail can reward pressure and speed, but they are not automatically better for every turn. Consider how the ski releases its edge as well as how firmly it holds. Match length to your stance and terrain rather than chasing the longest option. Avoid buying a specialist for the winter you imagine if it will rarely suit your usual days.
