Kids' Ski Helmets

Getting a child's helmet right starts with a tape measure around the head, just above the eyebrows. A rear dial or removable pads let one helmet adapt as hair and head size change through the season. The helmet should sit level and not slide when your child shakes their head with the chin strap closed. Buy one that fits now, because there is no benefit in a shell that is meant to be grown into. Try it with the child's own goggles so that there is no gap to let in cold air. Simple buckles make lift lines easier. Retire any helmet after a serious crash, and avoid secondhand ones with an unknown history.
