Powder Skis
Powder skis make sense when soft snow is the reason you head up the mountain. Their wider platforms help you stay near the surface, while tip rocker helps the ski rise through fresh snow. Think about how you turn before choosing the widest pair. A loose, heavily rockered ski can pivot through trees; a more supportive tail rewards committed turns in open terrain. Length still matters, especially with a heavy pack or a larger skier. Be honest about the journey back to the lift. If it is mostly firm snow all season, keep a narrower everyday pair in mind.
